The answer is always in a PDF nobody opens

Four documents govern the life of this fictional workshop: terms of sale, maintenance contract, workshop rules, warranty. Thirteen pages nobody rereads, and the same questions coming back — what deposit, what lead time, what notice period.

Ask the question. The answer arrives in a few seconds, with the exact passage it comes from: document, page, highlighted text.

Entirely fictional documents. Company, clauses and amounts invented. No legal force, no legal advice produced.

How it is built

The model answers, the code proves. The full text of the four documents goes out with every question, cached on the API side. The model answers in one to three sentences and must attach an extract copied word for word, with document and page. The server then searches for that extract, character by character, in the source text: not found, the whole answer is rejected and nothing is displayed. The passage highlighted on screen is copied from the document, never from the model’s output.

When the answer is not in the documents, the assistant says so — it never fills in from general knowledge, and it produces neither legal nor tax advice. Thirteen pages fit whole into every call; across thousands of pages, a preliminary search first selects the candidate passages — the principle, and the proof demanded, stay the same.

Who built this

My name is Nicolas Baier. I have been writing code since 2005, on my own, with no imposed framework or CMS, building the tools companies cannot buy off the shelf: business applications, internal portals, automations.

This page is not a product. It is a demo module, built to show a mechanism. Yours would be wired to your own documents, your own vocabulary and your own rules.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the assistant’s answers come from?

Only from the four fictional documents loaded: terms of sale, maintenance contract, workshop rules, warranty. Every quoted extract is searched word for word by the server in the reference text; if it cannot be found, the whole answer is rejected.

What happens if the answer is not in the documents?

The assistant simply says so: “this is not in the documents”. One of the suggested questions is in fact a deliberate trap — it is the demonstration of the “I don’t know” that most chatbots lack.

Is my question stored?

Never — that is the promise stated on the page. The technical log keeps only anonymous measurements: processing time and the number of verified citations.

What is a RAG assistant?

An assistant wired to your own documents: it finds the relevant passages, then writes only from them, sources included. The full service is described on the internal RAG assistant page.

Can it be wired to our documents?

Yes: procedures, contracts, catalogues, internal notes. Sourced answers, an explicit refusal when the information is missing, hosting in France if needed — the same principle as this demo, at your company’s scale.

Does this module speak to you?

Tell me in two lines what you would want it to do at your company. I reply within 24 hours, with no sales follow-up.

Or, more simply: fifteen minutes on the phone.
